Kathy M. Sons

Ms. Sons practice is diverse and includes real estate and family law as well as civil litigation, particularly research and motion practice for litigation.

Between college and law school, Kathy worked for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in their war room and then as a Pre-Trial Officer for Cook County's Pretrial Services. While in law school, Kathy served as a member of the Law Review and then as an Editor on the Law Review Executive Board and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. She also served an externship with the Honorable Marvin E. Aspen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Upon graduation from Chicago-Kent College of Law with high honors, Kathy served as law clerk to the Honorable Philip L. Bronstein of the Circuit Court of Cook County before joining Rooks, Pitts, and Poust as an Associate Attorney. After that, she had her own real estate practice for several years before rejoining Kavanagh Grumley & Gorbold, LLC. as an attorney of counsel.

Kathy has successfully authored and argued numerous motions in the circuit court, as well as an appeal in the Illinois Appellate Court, resulting in a reversal of a judgment.

Kathy hails from St. Louis, but has lived in the south and southwest suburban Chicago area since graduating college. She is most proud of her two children and has been very active in her children's school district for many years, serving as committee chair in various capacities over the years. She has also volunteered for over sixteen years at a homeless shelter and is an active member of her church.
